My works are composed of elements and forms drawn from nature, architecture and still lifes, which I simplify and translate into my own visual language. I also drawn on lettering and pattern as motifs in my work. My works strip these familiar forms from our everydays lives of their recognisability and make use of unexpected colours, which emphasise the changes and thus contribute to this sense of alienation. I capture ideas and inspirations in sketches and drafts, from which I select elements during the painting process to rearrange and combine them. This (re)composition of forms - drawn from ''real'' life and those I invent myself – has always been part of my artistic practice. In this way, works emerge that give the viewer the opportunity to discover something they think they already know, without defining it through context. I combine series, which usually consist of the same formats, with works that break away from the series and stand alone.
